Today I joined dozens of my fellow citizens in a demonstration at our local Post Office, protesting the administration’s cuts in service and equipment.
I tend to get enthusiastic at these things, and the organizer called me a “firecracker.”
“You should see me when I’m off my meds!” I joked.
Just then, I realized I’d forgotten to take my morning course of anti-seizure drugs.
Lisa, who lives in suburban Chicago, suffered a traumatic brain injury and acquired epilepsy in a 2008 car accident. For the previous two decades, she had worked in newspaper editing in Florida, North Carolina and Illinois. She and husband Ted have a daughter, Megan, of Chicago. Post-TBI, Lisa became certified as a yoga instructor and now volunteers teaching yoga at a women's shelter and a veterans center.
